Debit Cards: At U.S. airport locations, debit cards require a ticketed return travel itinerary. Non-airport locations can have different requirements. Security Deposit: Renters without a ticketed return itinerary may need a credit-card deposit of $300–$400, depending on location and vehicle class. Gift Cards: National does not accept gift cards to secure a rental. Prepaid Visa, Mastercard or American Express gift cards may be used at the end of a rental. Reservation Payment: Payment is generally not required when making a reservation; payment and any required deposit are handled according to the rental location's policies. Cash: Cash is not accepted as a deposit at the beginning of a rental, and many locations do not accept cash at any time.
